On May 11, 2009 the City of
Poughkeepsie PBA held an awards dinner at the
Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. The City of Poughkeeepsie PBA
would like to thank the awards committee, specifically
Anthony Morrone and Edward Fenichel for all of the hard
work and effort that went into honoring our members.
This years awards dinner showcased the hard work and
dedication of the members of the City of Poughkeepsie
PBA from 2006 to 2008. The awards dinner was attended
by Mayor John Tkazyik, City Administrator Michael Long,
Assistant Corporation Council Paul Ackermann and several
members of the City Council. Captains Steven Minard and
Thomas Pape were in attendance. Members of the
Town of Poughkeepsie PBA as well as the Dutchess County
Sheriffs Office PBA were also on hand. The following is
a list of awards which were issued on that night.

Unit Citation – Solid

squad or detail who collectively as a unit have a direct
impact on the quality of life through enforcement or
innovative implementation of enforcement methods or
improvement in the quality of life

K-9 Citation – Breast bar
showing white field,

black
field. Awarded to a K-9 handler and his dog for an
outstanding accomplishment in the line of duty where the
use of a K-9 team expedited the successful safe
apprehension of a fugitive, missing person or where the
risk to officers was too grave and the K-9 made it
possible for a successful safe resolution. The K-9
citation may also be awarded to a K-9 team where the K-9
successfully locates narcotics in the amount classified
as an A-1 felony weight and where there is an actual
arrest of a suspect and said suspect is charged with an
A-1 felony crime based on the use of the K-9 team
